Tubal Ligation After You Give Birth? Is It Possible With Natural Birth?

I opted for tubal ligation after I give birth. Just curious but is it possible to have a tubal ligation after a natural birth? I heard from someone that it’s possible but I always thought only after a C-section. I want to know if it’s possible and how they will do it?

Funny you should ask that actually. My midwife just recommended it for me as well, and said that I would have to sign the papers early. It can be done after a normal vaginal birth. The law states that it has to be done the next calendar day, after birth, so if you give birth at 11:30 at night, you can have it done the next morning. She also said that if done in the morning, you can go home early afternoon, and that there was minimal discomfort. Many women opt to do this. I think it’s the way I am going to go too. If it is that simple, I would rather do it, then BC, or other things, and since this is our 6th, we are done. LoL

They usually do it the next day. They just go in thru the belly button from the top and from the vagina and snip, snip. You are normally under general anesthetic.

Absolutely! They just make a small incision in your abdomen (usually inside your belly button so the scar won’t show) and it is usually done with a scope.
