Some women have effects when taking birth control. If these effects last for more than three months, talk to the doctor about changing to a brand of birth control that contains a different dose of hormones. Do not stop the pills without consulting the doctor and starting a new method of birth control.

Side effects may include nausea, bloating, headaches, breast tenderness, bleeding between the periods and decreased libido. Very seldom, birth control methods can cause non-cancerous liver tumors. If someone experience persistent pain in the abdomen while on birth control pills, one should see the doctor.

Birth control pills that have estrogen can increase the risk of having blood clots. This is a small risk for fit women. Women who are at increased risk of cardiovascular problems, like women over 35 who smoke or women with high blood pressure boost their risk of heart attack or stroke if they too take birth control pills. They are frequently advised to use another method of birth control. Estrogen containing birth control pills are not suggested for women who have or have had:

1.	blood clots

2.	heart disease

3.	stroke

4.	high blood pressure greater than 160/100

5.	severe migraines

6.	heart defects

The issue:

Most hormonal methods of birth control are planned to work by suppressing ovulation. However, in a small percentage of cases ovulation may still take place. For some women, it may occur every single cycle. As a result, these contraceptives prevent pregnancy through a different method.

There does not seem to be a total definition of conception. To some people, idea occurs when an egg and a sperm join together. For other people, conception does not happen until a fertilized egg has rooted itself into the lining of the uterus. Depending on how define conception, hormonal birth control’s ability to prevent the shoot of a fertilized egg can be seen as an interceptive or as an abortive technique.

Chose the best:

Women who vision conception as taking place when an egg is fertilized by a sperm may want to choose a non-hormonal method of birth control. Although these birth control methods are not usually regarded as forms of abortion, the personal views on conception and abortion may cause them to be placed in that category. It is up to every woman to weigh the pros and cons of hormonal birth control methods against forms of non-hormonal birth control and to choose for herself what she feels most comfortable with.

For some parents, building attachment with their babies comes naturally. They instinctively know what to do and how to bond with their babies from birth. For other parents, the process of building an attachment with a baby is a learning experience. Not surprisingly, since for many individuals these days, their baby is very likely one of the first or few babies they have ever had to deal with in their lives – unlike the past when having many children was common, many people had the benefit of experience from helping to look after younger siblings.

If you are a new parent feeling at a loss regarding how to build attachment with your baby, we will examine some effective ways to help you get started. Many of these can begin from as early as birth and most involve physical touch and spending time in close proximity to your baby. If you want to build a bond with another individual, you need to get to know them. One way of getting to know them is to spend lots of time with them. Likewise, if you want to form an attachment with you baby, it follows naturally that spending as much time as possible with your baby will help. Any activity you can do with your baby that fosters closeness will assist in building attachment.

1. Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding, especially in the early days, offers mothers plenty of opportunity to be close to their babies and to build up a relationship of trust. More than simply providing nourishment to the baby, breastfeeding helps to build a bond due to the frequent close proximity and skin contact between mother and baby. Nursing babies derive more than physical nourishment from breastfeeding as nursing also offers babies emotional comfort.

Through breastfeeding, a mother can learn to read her baby’s cues and non-verbal attempts to communicate his (or her) need for food or comfort. Additionally, the act of breastfeeding triggers the release of hormones which affect mothers on an emotional level. The strong emotional connection between mother and baby involved in breastfeeding can be observed when a mother nurses her baby versus when a mother attempts to express milk with a breast pump. The letdown reflex (the process by which matured milk moves from the back of the breast to the front) often comes quite easily when the baby is suckling but can be quite difficult to achieve when expressing milk with a breast pump.

2. Feeding

For Dads and mothers who have opted to bottle feed their babies, it is still possible to build attachment with a baby, although the benefits of the hormonal reaction and the natural bond that forms between a nursing couple (the mother and baby in a breastfeeding relationship) are missed. Here are some practices that can help:

Cuddle baby during feeds. There is a tendency with bottle feeding to prop baby up with a cushion or pillow and offer the bottle from a distance. To build an attachment, touch and closeness is required. To help foster that requirement, hold the baby as if you were intending to breastfeed.

Increase skin to skin contact. Bottle feeding without a shirt on can help to mimic the skin to skin contact between parent and baby similar to the nursing situation.

3. Co-sleeping

It is a natural survival instinct for a baby to seek the close proximity of a parent. In the wild, infants who are separated from parents become prey to predators and the risk of death is very high. Babies aren’t born with the awareness that the environment around them is safe and naturally seek the closeness of their parents, even at night. Co-sleeping offers babies the comfort and feeling of security of being near a parent.

Sleep studies have also shown that co-sleeping mothers respond to the movements of their babies even while sleep. It is evident that co-sleeping not only allows mothers to provide comfort and security to their babies, but at the same time mothers are also unconsciously developing an attachment to their babies.

4. Baby wearing

Babies also need to be near parents during the day as a baby makes no distinction between day or night. One way to keep your baby close to you during the day without physically immobilising yourself is to “wear” your baby in a baby sling or carrier. Baby carriers and slings allow parents to cuddle their babies while leaving their hands free.

Having your baby’s face close to yours fosters communication (from parent to baby and baby to parent). Parents can share observations and keep baby updated about what is happening. This is more likely to occur when your baby is being carried than when your baby is lying in a pram. Imagine trying to talk to your baby through the noise and commotion in a shopping mall – it would definitely be easier for your baby to listen to you when being carried rather than when lying in a pram.

5. Talking and Singing

Babies respond most eagerly to the sound of a real person’s voice, and even more so if that voice belongs to a parent. Babies can recognise their parents’ voices having heard them while in the womb. Sometimes the sound of a mother or father’s voice can be enough to calm a stirring baby. Studies have also shown that babies can be soothed more easily with songs that they heard their mothers sing to them during the pregnancy.

Some first time parents find it awkward to ramble to a baby who doesn’t appear to understand them, but don’t underestimate your baby who is absorbing a lot more that you think. Babies who have been spoken to a lot during the early months often learn to speak earlier than their peers. Learning to talk and sing to you baby takes time. While uncomfortable at first, remember that practice makes perfect.

6. Playing

Babies love to play. Play is one of the ways that help them learn about the world around them. Play is a special interaction between parent and baby that involves touch, physical closeness, and laughter – all ingredients for fostering a strong attachment.

Games that parents can play with babies might be bouncing games on the lap, rolling on the bed, tickling, learning about hands and feet and features of the face. As your baby grows older, you can play games such as rolling a ball, shaking noise-makers, or exploring cloth books.

7. Primary Care Giver

Don’t underestimate the bond that is being built as you bathe your baby, change his (or her) diapers, and respond to his (or her) other physical or emotional needs. By being the primary care giver to your baby, you will inevitably build an attachment with your baby as you learn to read his (or her) cues, body language, and attempts to communicate with you. This is evident with babies who express closeness to nannies or carers who look after them while their parents go to work.

Summary

Building an attachment with your baby is like making friends with a person who only speaks a foreign language. At first you may find it difficult to understand what your baby needs but as you spend more time with him (or her) you will begin not only to understand him (or her) but to build an attachment. While you do not necessarily have to follow each and every suggestion above, all of them will assist you in forming an attachment with your baby. The most fundamental part of bonding, however, is time spent together. It takes time to build an attachment with another person, likewise, with a baby, the more time you can spend, the better.

Illinois recognizes a cause of action based on “wrongful birth.” However, Illinois personal injury attorneys must be aware that the types of damages available in wrongful birth actions are typically less than in wrongful death actions.

The seminal case dealing with wrongful birth actions is Siemieniec v. Lutheran General Hosp., 117 Ill. 2d 230 (Ill. 1987). In Siemieniec, the parents of a child born with hemophilia sought to recover damages on the basis that they would have aborted the child had the defendants provided an accurate genetic diagnosis.

The Illinois Supreme Court defined “wrongful birth” as a claim for relief of “parents who allege they would have avoided conception or terminated the pregnancy by abortion but for the negligence of those charged with prenatal testing, genetic prognosticating, or counseling parents as to the likelihood of giving birth to a physically or mentally impaired child.” 117 Ill. 2d at 235.

In discussing “what elements of damages may be recovered by the parents” in wrongful birth actions, the Court first noted the “general rule” of damages in tort actions — that the wrongdoer is liable for all injuries resulting directly from the wrongful acts, provided that the damages are the “legal and natural consequences of the wrongful act” and “might reasonably have been anticipated.” However, the Court noted that “few if any jurisdictions appear ready to apply this traditional rule of damages with full vigor in wrongful birth cases.” Id. at 259.

Rather, the Supreme Court held that parents in wrongful birth actions may only recover the “extraordinary expenses – medical, hospital, institutional, educational and otherwise – which are necessary to properly manage and treat the congenital or genetic disorder.” Id. at 260; see also Goldberg v. Ruskin, 128 Ill. App. 3d 1029, 1039 (3d Dist. 1984) (holding that plaintiffs in wrongful birth action may recover “medical and other expenses reasonably necessary for the care and treatment of the impairment”). Such extraordinary expenses relate to the care and treatment of the afflicted child, and “do not include the expenses associated with the raising of a normal, healthy child.” Id. at 259; see also Cockrum v. Baumgartner, 85 Ill. 2d 193 (Ill. 1983).

Furthermore, the Court held that parents failed to state a cause of action for negligent infliction of emotional distress. The Court applied the Illinois “zone-of-danger rule” to bar recovery of such damages. In doing so, the Court “likened the parents to bystanders who were witnessing the effects of the hemophilia on their child” and suffered emotional distress as a consequence. Corgan v. Muehling, 143 Ill. 2d 296, 305 (ill. 1991).

Under the zone-of-danger rule, “before a plaintiff can recover for negligently caused emotional distress, he must have himself, been endangered by the negligence, and he must have suffered physical injury or illness as a result of the emotional distress caused by the defendant’s negligence.” Siemieniec, 117 Ill. 2d at 261. Because there were no allegations that the defendants’ alleged negligence (in failing to diagnose and inform the parents of a genetic defect in the fetus) in any way endangered the parents of the impaired child, the Court barred recovery for emotional damages.

The zone-of-danger rule does not apply to “direct” victims of negligent infliction of emotional distress. See Corgan, 143 Ill. 2d at 306. However, Siemieniec makes it difficult, if not impossible, for parents to claim they are direct victims, rather than mere bystanders. Id. (”Siemieniec, therefore, simply applied the zone-of-danger rule to a bystander case, as the parents suffered emotional distress because of their child’s disease”).

This is not to say that top-ranked Chicago personal injury lawyers should not pursue wrongful birth actions on behalf of their clients. In wrongful birth cases where a child is born with severe genetic defects and requires significant medical care and treatment over the course of his or her life, Illinois law provides for the recovery of those “extraordinary expenses,” which may be significant. Courts may even permit recovery of those expenses incurred “after the child has reached the age of majority.” See Siemieniec, 117 Ill. 2d at 260.

However, cases where a child is “wrongfully” born and, because of the genetic defect, dies shortly after delivery, seem to allow for minimal damages recovery. In such cases, any “extraordinary” costs of raising the afflicted child are minimal. Furthermore, parents are precluded from recovering emotional damages as a result of the wrongful birth.

Whether you are having a c section by your choice or not it is still a special kind of birth for your child. Truly, it is the stuff that legends are made of and is every bit, if not more romantic than the notions of a natural birth. And yet those that have elective c sections are so often made to feel that somehow they ‘cheated’ the birthing process.

One of the most famous stories is that of the Shakespearean tyrant Mac Beth who was buoyed by the knowledge that ‘None of woman born’ could harm him. Of course the irony was that his eventual killer – Mac Duff was born by cesarean section – technically not ‘born of woman’ at all!

I don’t know of anyone who has had an ‘elective’ cesarean who has not fully taken into account the ramifications of surgery vs a natural birth. Babies that are born by cesarean section are incredibly special because without this amazing technology the chances of their survival would almost certainly be nil. I have had three c sections – two of which were technically ‘elective’ and the first was a definite emergency. But all 4 – yes 4, of my children would not be here without this surgery being available.

And yet I was surprised at the lack of understanding towards the fact that my babies were born by c-section. I was actually told that I was ‘too posh to push’, accused of being lazy and accused of being a drama queen. A common question was ‘why would I deliberately put myself through surgery, 6 weeks of recovery and all the other crap that comes with having a c-section?’

My answers to these was simple. Life or Death.

It is not the choice that I would have made in a perfect world – hey, I would have loved to have been able to be running around 2 days after giving birth but fate had other ideas and suddenly survival – both babies and mine – became the priority.

My c-section scar is a tattoo that I am proud of. It represents the fight that my husband and I have put up to ensure our babies survival and each new twist to it is another amazing story that we have to tell.

Click Here For Maternity Acupressure Instant Access Now!

Relaxing is very vital to induce labor. Aromatherapy, particularly the calming and comforting scent of clary sage, is highly recommended. Castor oil, evening primrose oil, or blue and black cohosh can also be used, however, with care, to start labor.

Massaging your nipples may also initiate labor. It releases oxytocin which is a natural form of pitocin. Moreover, having intercourse while pregnant might be difficult for the mother, but then, the male semen has natural prostaglandin that can ripen and soften the cervix. In addition to that, when a woman experience orgasms, the body releases hormones called oxytocin that assists the uterus to contract and will increase the intensity of your contractions.

Walking is extremely helpful for the heavily pregnant woman because it will give her the chance to stay active and will help in the process leading to labor, plus, it can also be done during labor if contractions slow down. After a walk, you may feel the need to refresh yourself; tropical fruits such as kiwi, mango and pineapple have an enzyme that may lead to mild contractions. Red raspberry leaf tea is also ideal for toning the cervix and great for women at any stage of their reproductive cycle.

Last but not the least; maternity acupressure is also another option to start labor. The mentioned ways to induce labor naturally are proven to be effective to start the process of child birth, however, be sure that you have consulted your health expert, before attempting to induce labor and have a close contact with your doctor.

All women and men should have control over if and when they become parents. Making decisions about birth control, or contraception is not easy ? there are many things to think about. Learning about birth control methods you or your partner can use to prevent pregnancy and talking with your doctor are two good ways to get started.

There is no ?best? method of birth control. Each method has its own pros and cons. Some methods work better than others do at preventing pregnancy. Researchers are always working to develop or improve birth control methods

Birth control pills are the most popular type of Birth control. There are many different brands of pill and they come in packs of 21 or 28 pills. The first 21 pills have a combination of synthetic estrogen and progesterone hormones. The main work of Birth control pills is to stop ovulation, preventing the ovaries from releasing eggs. The pill also thickens cervical mucus, making it harder for sperm to enter the uterus. The hormones in the Pill prevent fertilization.

Birth control pills are 92-99.7% effective as birth control; however it does not protect against reproductive tract infections, including HIV/AIDS. Birth control pills are usually started within 6 days of the start of a period after an abortion. In such cases the pill become so effective instantly because the pill is started at other times, will be effective after one month.

ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN may also be taken to treat moderate acne in females who are able to use the pill. When taken correctly to prevent pregnancy, oral contraceptives have a failure rate of less than 1% per year when used without missing any pills. The typical failure rate of large numbers of pill users is less than 5% per year when women who miss pills are included. For most women oral contraceptives are also free of serious or unpleasant side effects. However, forgetting to take pills considerably increases the chances of pregnancy.

Yasmin, the most recent low-dose birth control pill to enter the market, was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in May 2001 and is available in the United States. It is 99 percent effective in preventing pregnancy when used correctly, and works in the same way as other combination birth control pills. Each pill pack consists of 21 pills that contain the same amount of estrogen and progestin, to be taken one per day for three weeks, followed by seven placebo pills that are taken throughout the week, in order for a woman to get her period. Yasmin is the only birth control pill to contain the synthetic progestin known as drospirenone ? an alternative for women who experience adverse effects from other oral contraceptives.

Alesse tablets are one of the most effective methods used worldwide for birth control (99% effective when taken as directed). Alesse contains natural hormones that stop the ovary from releasing an egg and prevent a man’s sperm from entering the uterus. So with Alesse you can put your mind at ease and enjoy intimate moments with your partner.

The pills are taken one pill every day until you finish an entire pack. It is suitable that taking the pill with a regular activity that you do at the same time every day, like eating a meal or brushing your teeth.

But you should consult with your doctor before start taking Birth Control pills as many women may not be able to take the pill because of the risk of serious health problems.

Note: You should not take the pill if you suspect you are pregnant or have unexplained vaginal bleeding.

There is no greater joy than childbirth and no better way to experience it than giving birth at home. A certified midwife and/or doula may be in attendance to help support the mother and give her expert advice on herbs that can speed her healing, birthing positions to make birthing more comfortable and/or more productive as well as teaching basic baby care. The midwife will also measure and weigh the baby and keep a record of all of the baby’s birth statistics as well as signing the birth certificate application. A midwife is a blessing to have in your home as they provide added comfort due to their training and experience in assisting in the birthing of babies.

Giving birth at home puts the mother in control of her birthing experience. She may choose to labor in a warm bathtub and then climb into her own comfortable bed to give birth, or even opt for a water delivery if she chooses. She might labor on a birthing ball; give birth on a birthing chair or squatting near the side of her bed. There are any number of positions and other birthing options to choose from, all of which are far more comfortable than a hospital bed with hard metal stirrups holding the woman’s feet.

Due to the number of positions and different massage and relaxation techniques that a woman may use, the pain medication so readily dispensed in hospitals is not needed. Many women profess to experience “pain-free childbirth” due to learning to relax their bodies and minds and get into a position that is most comfortable for her own body. Using a warm bathtub during labor is known to dramatically reduce the discomfort associated with the contractions and sometimes the father will even use a pitcher to drizzle the warm water over the mother’s belly during the contractions. This is not only pleasurable and pain-relieving for the mother, but it also allows the father to be a more active participant of the birth.

Speaking of the father being a more active participant; he may even be able to “catch” the baby or in other words, assist with the delivery. Unlike the hospital with its stiff rules and regulations, giving birth at home puts the parents in charge. This is, after all, their baby and he or she does not belong to a doctor or hospital. These are just a few of the best reasons for giving birth at home, but there are many others as well. Why shouldn’t a baby be welcomed into the world where they are going to actually live?
