I’m having my second child and have opted for a home birth because I hated being in hospital with my first. I’m due any day. The midwife has recommended getting a shower curtain- to cover the floor/bed, a birthing ball and having some old towels ready, all of which I have sorted. Has anyone experience of a home birth and what helped the most, where did you give birth and have you any tips to pass on?

I am due in about a week, first pregnancy and have been preparing for a drug-free birth! Now that I am at the end, I’m becoming a little nervous! I know I can do it but encouragement and positive birthing stories always seem to help! I have been working with a doula in my home! This has helped my husband and I tremendously, but I’m still nervous! Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Can I Have A Home Birth After Having Bstrep In Previous Pregnancy??

In a previous pregannacy with a previous partner i had BStrep which my daughter caught during birth. She had an infection in her lungs but with some care in scbu and antibiotics she is now a thriving 6 yr old.
4 yrs ago i had another daughter with my now husband and had to be induced due to pre eclampsia after i went a week overdue and had anti biotics during labour to ensure baby did not contract BStrep due to my history which she did not.
We have now decided to have our last child but i would love a home birth but would i be allowed to with the BStrep history? I would never want to put my baby at risk but is there a possiblilty because 1 of my children contracted BStrep that any others will?
Thank you anyone for any help. I would just like to know if there is no chance as otherwise i would even discuss it with my midwife.

I have had three babies and I’m not pregnant yet but hoping to conceive in the next 4-6 months. I was interested in home birth with the last baby but hubby was a little too nervous about the idea. But I’d like to persue it before I get pregnant again.
Where do I start? How do I find a midwife? How much does it cost? Where can I find good information (especially that might reassure my husband?)
And maybe I should have mentioned this first: Our second baby got a kink in his cord during labor, and due to going without oxygen too long, he didn’t survive. The doc’s said it was a fluke thing and I was not considered high risk during my 3rd pregnancy. Would a midwife consent to do a home birth when I have lost a child shortly after birth?

Leary About Having A Home Water Birth- Any Advice?

I have decided I want to have a water birth. I have done all the research on the topic, spoken to my midwife and OB, and they all highly rerccommend it. Problem is- none of the hospitals in my area offer it, and if I want to go this route, I will have to work with my midwife and have a home birth. I am kind of leary about this. Has anyone had a home birth that can tell me how it works and how you felt about it? Also- should I continue to see my regular OB even though he wont be delivering the baby unless a problem arises? Lastly- do I have to do anything to prepare my house for a home birth, especially using an inflatable birthing pool?

Can anyone give me any tips on a natural childbirth? my baby boy is due in 6 weeks and i’m trying to write out my birth plan. I dont want any medication which includes an epidural. any tips/suggestions as to what i need to do during my labor to get my mind off of the pain? i want to use the birthing tub- has anyone experienced that? does it help. please give me all your tips so i can get through this naturally. BTW this is my first baby. Does the whole laboring process hurt or is it when you get dilated to a certain # when it starts becoming unbearable?

I’m 25 weeks pregnant and in the middle of making a birthing plan. I know I want to aim for a natural birth. Any advice? I have decided that if the pain is unbearable I will get a epideral but that’s it. What are your views on pain relief during labour?
